Dr Smythe has been in the medical industry his whole adult life. As a child, he was a very quiet boy who enjoyed reading and climbing trees. As a young adult, he developed a passion for chemistry and his curiosity even had him creating his own fireworks. Despite being mischievous, he was always studious and did well academically, which would help him develop into a career he loves and is proud of.
After graduating from St Georges University of London with a Bachelors in Pharmacology he began working full-time for Pfizer in Sandwich, Kent, England in a dedicated research and development center called Discovery Park. He continued to work for Pfizers research laboratory for over 5 years before returning to university to study further.
This time he studied for a Masters Degree in Chemical Engineering. He returned to work again in research and development (R&D). As he had also worked as a researcher previously, he now works between departments innovating new pharmaceutical products in joint ventures involving various companies. During his time at Pfizers R&D department, he has been happy to see the breakthroughs and discoveries.
Dr Smythe Also worked closely with Pfizers manufacturing plants to make sure that newly approved medications are produced in the exact ways they need to be. He has since left Pfizer and now works as an independent consultant for companies that manufacturer pharmaceutical medications. He has enjoyed working with some of the worlds best scientists and medical professionals throughout his career.
Nowadays, He enjoys the outdoors and can be found hiking when he can find time away from his busy schedule. His career in pharmaceutical engineering has taken him around the globe to countries like India, Isreal and China. He has since taken his consultancy part time and works as a writer whilst living in his hometown of Portsmouth, Hampshire, on the south coast of England.
